Council election results

I’m thrilled to have been elected as the Scottish Conservative & Unionist councillor for East Neuk & Landward.

I want to thank the 1508 people who gave me their first preference votes. This enabled me to be the only candidate in the Neuk to be elected outright and to top the poll.

I didn’t expect such a stunning result. With a turnout of 52%, over 5000 people voted, significantly up on the last Council elections in 2012 when the turnout was 38.6%.

Fife Conservatives won a total of 15 seats on the Council, five times the number they occupied during the previous administration. No party has overall control. Short of a coalition between Labour and SNP, Conservatives hold the balance of power. Fife Conservatives stated publicly before the election that they will not enter into any coalitions.

How all this will play out, no one knows as yet. Nevertheless all those who voted for me, as well as those who didn’t, can rest assured that there will be a strong advocate for the East Neuk on Fife Council and beyond.
