Ruth Davidson celebrates new Fife campaign office and 22 Fife Council candidates

Ruth Davidson, leader of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party, came to Markinch to open the new Fife Conservative office on Friday. The mood was upbeat and celebratory among almost a hundred well-wishers attending the party, including the regional MSPs for Mid Scotland and Fife Murdo Fraser, Dean Lockhart and Alexander Stewart, regional MSP for North East Scotland Bill Bowman as well as many of the 22 Conservative candidates for the Fife Council election.

Ruth Davidson commented:

“It was great to open our new office which will be our campaign base in the coming local election. The Scottish Conservatives are standing hard working local candidates in every ward in Fife and we’re to looking to return more Conservative councillors across the Kingdom than at any time in the last 20 years”.

Dave Dempsey, leader of the Conservative group on Fife Council, said:

“We’ve got a cracking team of candidates who are already bringing new energy and focus to local politics. With a wealth of professional experience, they will stand up for their wards and shake things up at Fife House.

There’s been a real upsurge in support for Scottish Conservatives. We see it at Holyrood where the Conservatives are now the official opposition and we’re hearing it on the doorsteps where the Conservatives are the only party with an unwavering Unionist stance against a second referendum. In May voters will have the chance to put strong Conservative voices at the centre of local government.

We’re delighted with our new office in the middle of Fife. It combines the forces of our north and south Fife associations, and is already working hard to co-ordinate campaigns across the Kingdom”.
